1. The third round of Korea-EU FTA negotiations was held from September 17 to 21 in Belgium, Brussels.
2. Concerning tariff offers, although not much progress was made due to a difference of opinion on Korea’s
revised offer, momentum was maintained through unofficial bilateral talks where the two sides agreed to
exchange opinions on evaluations of the offers made by both sides by comparing them to the Korea-U.S.
FTA.
3. In other sectors, talks proceeded relatively quickly and there were efforts made on both sides to enhance
understanding of each side’s system.
O An exchange of opinion was made on non-tariff barriers in the fields of automobiles, electric and
electronics, pharmaceuticals, wine and liquor, based on the EUs proposal.
O Both sides clarified each others liberalization plan in the service and investment sector and agreed to
establish a mechanism to mutually acknowledge qualifications for professional jobs.
O The two sides agreed to establish a customs clearance cooperation committee, while continuing to work
together to set categories in articles and ensure that the procedures for customs clearance do not face any
detours.
4. The fourth round of Korea-EU FTA negotiations will be held from October 15-17 in Seoul.
