1. The Government of the Republic of Korea welcomes the election on October 31 of Michel Aoun, a member of the parliament, to the presidency of the Republic of Lebanon, which remained vacant for the past two years, after dialogues and consultations among political parties in the country. The ROK government hails the move as a significant step toward stability and development in Lebanon.

2. The Government of the Republic of Korea expects that under the leadership of new president Aoun, Lebanon will achieve a genuine national reconciliation and successfully meet challenges posed by the situation in its surrounding region.

3. Going forward, the Government of the Republic of Korea will continue to support the efforts of the Lebanese government to attain socio-economic stability and development.
