1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong talked over the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on February 12.
2. The two Foreign Ministers affirmed that Korea and Russia are major partners for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in Eurasia and agreed that the two countries, which continued top-level exchanges despite the COVID-19 situation last year, will carry out active high-level exchanges in 2021 as well.
3. The two Foreign Ministers agreed to make concerted efforts to make progress in substantive cooperation between the two countries as well as to counter and overcome COVID-19. In particular, they agreed to work together in developing specific plans for the “Northeast Asia Cooperation Initiative for Infectious Disease Control and Public Health.”
4. The
two Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation
between the two countries for progress in the Korean Peninsula peace process.
